From sports, portraits, events...there's a nice mix of my random work. 

Belleville, ON (09/18/10) - Lisa Hill, number 16 of the Loyalist Lancer women's soccer team, takes a break in between plays and rests on the net. The Lancers fought a hard game against Fleming College, but were defeated in the end. Photo by Kristine Benham.
Kitchener, ON. (08/10/10) - Joann Lacroix settles down with her new dog, Farley, after a long day of shopping with her family. Lacroix was given this dog as a gift for fighting and beating breast cancer. Her daughter, Alyssa Lacroix, discovered this dog in need of a home in Montreal and paid to have him flown to the Breslau, ON. airport. Lacroix was diagnosed with cancer on November 12th, 2009 and went through chemotherapy, as well as a mastectomy (breast removal surgery). Photo by Kristine Benham.




Belleville, ON (09/11/10) - Anne Allen is a Loyalist College maintenance woman
and helps clean up the residence apartments every week. Allen is a big fan of hockey
and often enjoys discussing the scores with hockey fan students. Photo by Kristine Benham.


Belleville, ON. (09/25/10) - Hearts on hiatus, a local Belleville band played at Porchfest in the East Hill area. The group consists of five high school students who are currently recording their music on their own equipment. Porchfest is a musical event in Belleville with a grass roots feel, inviting people and artists to come out and share their music for the day. Front porches were volunteered by people in the neighborhood for the artists to play on. Photo by Kristine Benham.

Belleville, ON. (01/23/10) - Bayside Secondary School held the 100th anniversary celebration for all of the Quinte area Girl Guides. Over 350 girls and their leaders came together at Bayside Secondary School. The day included games, crafts, singing, dancing and international activities. Girls also brought a non-perishable food item for Gleaners Food Bank. Photo by Kristine Benham.


Niagara Falls, ON. (08/04/10) - A view of Niagara Falls from the Sky Wheel on Clifton Hill.




Kitchener, ON. (02/04/10) - Olga, an Extend a Family worker helps Katie Benham with brushing her hair before school. Benham has cerebral palsy and requires assistance with much of her daily routines. This does not discourage her in pursuing her goals however, and is receiving honors in her college media program. Photo by Kristine Benham.


Belleville, ON. (01/27/10) - Loyalist Lancers #6 Joanne Laton works hard to deliver a spike but is blocked by the Fleming defenders. The game was played at Loyalist College, in the Kente building's gymnasium. The Lancers won the game that evening due to their hard work and determination. Photo by Kristine Benham.


Ottawa, ON (13/02/10)- Thousands of people come from around the world to skate on the world's largest
skating rink. The Rideau Canal is open for 4.8 miles of skating, with snack vendors and changing shacks along the way.
The Winterlude festival is held each year for the first three weeks of February which holds many fun activities, especially skating. Photo by Kristine Benham.


Gatineau, ON. (13/02/10) - Winterlude, or the Bal de neige, held many interesting events and sights to see. One of the contests that was in Jaques Cartier Park was the snow sculptures. Team Alberta won first place with their "Snow Skates". Brian McArthur, Michael Decaire and Eric Burton spent fifty-five hours creating their sculpture from a giant block of snow. They finished Saturday morning, the day of the contest and spoke of their worries about rushing. The three men said "The skates capture the enthusiasm and love Canadians have for our winters." Ottawa, ON. (13/02/10) - People celebrating Winterlude in Ottawa may take a walk through
Confederation Park and get greeted by the ice dragon at the entrance. Ice sculptures made by artists from
all over the world are one of the attractions to be found at Winterlude each year. This ice dragon was engineered to blow flames from its mouth. Photo by Kristine Benham.


Belleville, ON (09/25/10) - AKA Sugarlips was the opening act at this year's Porchfest in Belleville. The day took place in East Hill Park on the corner of Bleecker Ave. and Bridge St. Saturday afternoon. Sugarlips did some of his covers of Lady Gaga, Eminem and Linkin Park songs with his electric harmonica. Photo by Kristine Benham.

Belleville, ON. (29/01/10) - Two children play inside boxes that they plan to sleep in for the night. They are there for the event "Sleep out so others can sleep in", downtown at Belleville's City Hall. The event is to raise donations and awareness about homelessness in the city. People who were involved were to stay outdoors in sub-zero temperatures from 7 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday. Photo by Kristine Benham.


Belleville, ON. (14/11/09) - Dr. Arun Dosaj demonstrates at Quinte Women's Show what sorts of Botox treatments he would use on Liz Coonie. Coonie is a contestant for a $10,000 SkinBeautiful makeover, where Dr. Dosaj works. Dosaj spoke at the women's show about his local business. Photo by Kristine Benham.




Belleville, ON. (01/19/10) - Kessie Liddiar wanders around downtown, looking for potential customers. Liddiar is a prostitute and agrees to stop and speak with Loyalist College students for an assignment. Photo by Kristine Benham.
