So today was productive and indulged my passions! I worked a normal Friday, getting the printed weeklies out to our community and all the good stuff. I started on next week's edition and it was, as I said, a very productive day! I then was surprised by the new vet in town who was wanting to go see bull riders. So, I grabbed some camera gear and we were off ! On the way out to Gainsborough, SK, we stopped and saw some awesome wildlife. So, this post is to show off some cool animals I found and captured and some of the bull riding. I have never seen bull riding before and honestly didn't like the way the bulls were treated, but there was something strangely satisfying for me, watching the bulls get their revenge on some of their riders (haha I may be horrible for this statement). I apologize in advance for the bull riding photos. We got there late and were only able to sit in an awkward spot and there was no way to stand up and shoot, so yes I am aware of the huge annoying bars in some of the photos, and that the quality is off~ Enjoy it nonetheless!

Later!

Oh gosh. It's been some time (a year, more or less) since I've touched my blog. To whoever comes across this thing; I suppose I'm sorry. To be honest I was just discouraged after college. Jobs were scarce in the media field and my spare time went to shooting events outside of my meaningless jobs. It's a horrible attitude and if you're coming across this blog as a new photojournalist/media junkie, don't let it get to you! The teachers warned us [my program] that finding work was going to be hard and they weren't kidding. For some, it seemed to come quickly and it was both encouraging to see them succeed and the opposite as it wasn't me in their shoes. To those people (who probably won't ever see this)... good for you.
To my surprise, today I am managing editor of a small community newspaper. A lot has happened very quickly in the last few months and I am regretting not keeping up on this blog, as I am clinging to those little pieces of home now. As I had mentioned, I worked some of those nine-to-five meaningless jobs over the last year. I even found a comfortable position with Bell Canada, but it wasn't where my heart was. Money will only comfort your financial stresses, not your soul. I continued looking for work and a friend whispered of an opportunity through the grapevines. At the time I was again living with my family, seeing a guy exclusively and the job offer was in Saskatchewan (I'm from Ontario). That's a big move for someone who has scarcely seen outside of her provincial backyard. I clearly made the jump, that much is obvious, right? Anyway, I was offered a full-time reporting position for a small community newspaper called The Optimist. The managing editor left the paper two weeks after I was hired (NOT MY FAULT!) She was offered a job that was much more suitable to her liking, as media wasn't her calling. I was immediately thrown in to running a weekly production and am still learning the ABC's of it all. Pretty amazing stuff and I know it's not the Toronto Sun, but it's amazing either way. I wouldn't even know where to start with updating this with photos. I think I need to just upload a few tonight, and keep updating it every couple of days or so. I'll stop writing and start posting pictures, as visuals are a necessity ! I will be blogging again soon with the adventure of driving from Kitchener, ON to Saskatchewan. Night world!
